The weather is warming up fast, meaning it’s that time of the year most of us dread: swimsuit season! This summer, I wanted to be as proactive as possible with my health. Translation? I aspired to look decent, at least, in a swimsuit. At the beach or by the pool wearing a bathing suit is inevitable and, if you’re like me, you’ve never felt 100 percent comfortable in one.
Besides working out and attempting healthy eating, I wanted to discover other outlets that could help me burn fat. After some research, and some trial and error, I believe I found something that works - Apple Cider Vinegar(ACV)! Just drinking a tablespoon of ACV with your meal can help you burn fat and lose weight. Don’t believe me? Well, keep reading to discover how ACV works!
Regulates blood sugar
If you know you’re about to eat a meal that is mostly carbs, let’s say pasta, for example, drinking a tablespoon of ACV right before can help regulate and lower your blood sugar. Without the ACV, your blood levels would spike immensely after a full-carbed meal due to all the sugar. Keeping your blood sugar levels under control has been linked to losing weight and fat!
Don’t you hate it when you stay up late and start craving cupcakes, chips, or ice cream? When you find yourself craving unhealthy, sugary foods, ACV can help control your appetite and cravings. ACV contains acetic acid; this is shown to decrease food cravings and make you feel full. Eating the occasional junk food is fine, but if you find yourself with late night cravings often try ACV.
Breaks down fat
Along with helping control blood sugar levels and cravings, the acetic acid found in ACV can help break down fat too! A study done in Japan showed that overweight people who drank ACV with every meal helped them lose weight, fat, and help lower their overall BMI. It’s true that more studies need to take place to see if this is true for every individual, but it was good enough for me to give it a try!
Although I’m nowhere near my “summer body” goal, drinking ACV has helped me lose 12 pounds over the course of three months. Granted I do workout and try to eat well, but I believe ACV gave my body the extra help to fight the pounds.
